American Jordanian Secondary School is dedicated to providing a rigorous, English-medium education grounded in the academic principles, standards, and educational practices of the American school system. Our philosophy is centered on developing academically accomplished, intellectually curious, confident, and well-rounded students who are prepared to pursue higher education and succeed in an increasingly interconnected world.
A broad foundation of knowledge
We believe that a strong education should provide students with a broad foundation of knowledge while giving them opportunities to explore their individual interests, strengths, and aspirations. Our comprehensive curriculum includes English Language and Literature, English Grammar, Mathematics, General Science, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Social Studies, History, Human Geography, World Geography, Spanish, Hebrew, and other areas of learning. Through this diverse academic program, students develop knowledge across disciplines while strengthening critical thinking, communication, creativity, collaboration, research, and problem-solving skills.
An English-medium education
As an English-medium school, we believe that strong language skills are fundamental to academic success. English is the primary language of instruction, enabling students to engage confidently with academic content, communicate effectively, think critically, and participate meaningfully in diverse educational and cultural environments. Our additional language programs, including Spanish and Hebrew, further encourage students to develop linguistic skills and broaden their understanding of different cultures and perspectives.
SAT and Advanced Placement pathways
A key component of our educational philosophy is providing students with opportunities to pursue advanced and internationally recognized academic pathways. The School supports students in preparing for the SAT and Advanced Placement (AP) programs, allowing them to challenge themselves through rigorous, subject-specific coursework and develop the academic skills necessary for success in higher education.
Our AP pathway is designed to expose students to college-level academic expectations while they are still in high school. Through AP courses, students develop deeper subject knowledge, analytical thinking, research skills, problem-solving abilities, effective communication, and the independence required for university-level study. We encourage students to challenge themselves academically and pursue AP opportunities that align with their interests, abilities, and future university goals.
Learning that prepares students to lead
We believe that education should prepare students not simply to meet academic requirements, but to understand, question, investigate, innovate, and lead. Our classrooms encourage students to become active participants in their learning, take intellectual risks, apply knowledge to real-world situations, and develop the confidence to pursue their goals.
Beyond academic achievement, we place strong emphasis on character, leadership, responsibility, independence, collaboration, creativity, and respect for others. We believe that a successful education develops the whole person and prepares students not only for university and future careers, but also to become responsible individuals who contribute positively to their communities and the wider world.
Through a combination of a rigorous American-oriented curriculum, a diverse range of academic subjects, SAT and AP pathways, dedicated faculty, technology-enhanced learning, and a supportive educational environment, American Jordanian Secondary School prepares students to transition confidently into higher education and pursue their aspirations with knowledge, purpose, and determination.
Our philosophy is simple: to provide every student with the knowledge, skills, character, confidence, and global perspective necessary to achieve excellence, embrace opportunity, and make a meaningful contribution to the world.
